Family enterprise & history

As an independent family-run business, we have more than 100 years of experience and extensive resources to draw on, and therefore look to the future with confidence. Our decision to focus on the material aluminium in the early days has since allowed us to develop into a leading European manufacturer of aluminium wire. We have been working intensively on producing aluminium alloy welding fillers for half a century now.
 
The origin of Drahtwerk Elisental dates back to the year 1919. At that time Willi Erdmann took over a small factory in Neuenrade where resistance wire was produced. Following first modernisation and extensions the production was expanded to include stapling and binding wire as well as bright and enamelled copper wire.
 
The future of the young material aluminium with its unlimited scope of possibilities of alloying was recognised at an early stage. Elisental can rightly claim to be the first to manufacture wire, in particular fine wire, from aluminium-magnesium alloys.
 
In 1945, after the Second World War, Wilhelm Erdmann took over the management of the company in the second generation. Production was recommenced as early as February 1946 after the chaos of war was over. Today, mostly aluminium and aluminium alloys are processed. The experience gained with this material in those early days has benefited Elisental during the recent years of rapid expansion.
 
In addition to our certification according to ISO 9001 we have also been IATF 16949 certified since the beginning of 2018. Based on our wire drawing know-how and innovative materials, we have constantly been able to develop our market position thanks to flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly. We are committed to the tradition of this family enterprise which has been established on the market for many years. Now in the third and fourth generation, our company is still being run by its founding family.

We take responsibility, also for future generations. That is why it is important to us to act sustainably and to take measures that help keep our ecological footprint as small as possible. Our environmental management system is certified according to ISO 14001.
 
In May 2022, we were also recognised as a "good role model" for climate protection by the town of Neuenrade and Stadtmarketing Neuenrade e.V.
 
In order to make it easier for our employees to combine family and career, we implement numerous measures that move with the times and also take this challenge into account. In September 2022, our commitment was recognised with the "Family-friendly company" certificate. This is an incentive for us to stay on the ball and continue our work.
